Thrasher

Starting out back in 1981 by Kevin Thatcher, Eric Swenson and Fausto Vitello, Thrasher magazine very quickly became synonymous with skateboarding and the culture surrounding it. Expanding into T-Shirts, hoodies, caps and numerous other accessories the brand has gone from a skate brand to a high end fashion brand worn by celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Ryan Gosling and Rihanna (much to Thrashers annoyance).

Thrashers skater of the year, running since 1990, is still one of the most respected awards in skating and included past winners such as Danny Way, Mike Carroll, Arto Saari and most recently Kyle Walker. Their 'King of the Road' DVD series, which began in 2003 and is released yearly is a highlight of the skate calender for many. Given away free with their magazine and available to watch online and now on TV, the video highlights some of the best current skaters battling with their team mates to be crowned 'King of the Road'.
